Sexual harassment and gender-based violence is very common throughout cultures, social classes, and industries in the US, and social justice organizations are not an exception.
We can’t ensure harassment and violence will never happen, but we can build organizations that combat the patriarchal and white supremacist culture that makes harassment more likely to occur, or go unaddressed. We can also put in place practices, policies, and culture that prepare us to address sexual harassment when it occurs, build trust, and minimize the harm to people impacted.
Schedule a training
The best way to respond to sexual harassment is to be proactive. Trainings are custom-designed to respond to the needs of your organization, but can cover:
- What is sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination
- Why does sexual harassment happen, and it’s roots in systems of oppression
- What impact does sexual harassment have and why is it important to address it
- What to do if somebody is harassing you or somebody you know
- Review of organizational policies on sexual harassment
- History of sexual harassment laws as part of the struggle for Black liberation
- Difference between punitive and restorative or transformative approaches to sexual harassment
- Analysis of how racial, class, and gender identities impact sexual harassment
The cost for training on sexual harassment varies depending on the need, but generally starts at $4,000. This includes a survey of your organization’s staff, creation of custom curriculum, coordination, review of organizational policies, and expert trainers. Reach out to us to schedule a consultation.
